The film opens with a dark and chilly drone music, its night and we see a white Mausoleum, and behind one grave stone there's a couple having the good ol' "in-out-in-out". But theres something thats not right, the tall blonde women reveals a dagger and stabs the guy shes like fuckin, and all of a sudden we see a close-up of her face and it changes to the Tall man's face, creepy scene indeed. It then switches up to Reggie and Jody(yeah these are the main characters) at the cemetery near the Mausoleum, it appears the guy who got knifed in the oppening was a big friend of theirs. Jody then goes into the Mausoleum, which for me is one the best sets I've ever seen, the emptyness of the black marble corridors makes it a really chilling place. He goes in to check on his dead parents, and starts hearing strange noises and we see black figures going around the corridors. Meanwhile, Jody's younger brother is outside on a motorcycle, dodging graves and stuff, when he sees the Tall Man carry the late friend's coffin all by himself into the funnerary truck, instead of burrying it. From there on its Mike's, Reggie's and Jody's fight against the Tall Man and he's evil plans for Morningside, we get to see fingers being cut off and later turning into alien bugs that wanna eat you up, marvelous floating killer chrome spheres that drill their way into your brain, in one of the most famous gore sequences in the history of horror. The movie has a great atmosphere it explores various moods and emotions that were just great in this film, such as the fear of abandon, friendship and fear once again. Annother plus point on this film is the amazing soundtrack by Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave, which blends exactly with each scene enhancing the emotion of the film. All of the cast did a great job acting specially Angus Scrimm as the Tall Man, you wont forget the scenes with him easilly, scenes such as Mike's dream and when he sees him walking by the side walk in large continuous footsteps or even the scene in the Mausoleum. The special effects are also a major plus point on this film, the sphere effects are one of the best effects I've ever seen on screen.
To close up now, if you enjoy a good and original horror film, then this is for you as you will not see annything like. If you are interested in buying this series I reccomend the Sphere boxset wich comes with a life-size repplica of the sphere. And here I close my review with a rating of 4.5/5.
"The Tall Man: You play a good game boy, but the game is finished, now you die. "
